Kyiv, July 13, 2026 – During the night of July 12–13, Russia launched another large-scale aerial assault on Ukraine. Kyiv was among the primary targets, prompting air raid alerts across the capital as Ukrainian air defense systems were placed on high alert.
According to Ukrainian authorities, Russian forces used a combination of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in an apparent attempt to overwhelm the country’s air defense network. Residents of Kyiv reported hearing multiple explosions as air defense systems intercepted incoming targets over the city.
The attacks caused damage to infrastructure and sparked fires in several districts. Emergency services responded immediately to extinguish the fires, secure affected areas, and assist civilians. Many residents spent hours in bomb shelters while authorities urged the public to remain indoors until the threat had passed.
The strikes were not limited to Kyiv. Other regions of Ukraine were also targeted, including port infrastructure in Odesa and industrial facilities near Kryvyi Rih. At the same time, Ukraine continued its own drone operations against military and logistical targets inside Russia.
Military analysts note that Russia is increasingly combining missile and drone attacks to maximize pressure on Ukrainian air defenses and increase the likelihood of strikes reaching their intended targets. Despite the intensity of the assault, Ukraine’s air defense systems once again played a crucial role in minimizing damage and protecting civilians.
